Memorial Day
Today, while we are separate, we honor all those who have given their lives in service of the United States including Sweet Home graduates and U.S. Army soldiers Warrant Officer Wilbur Leroy Mong and Lieutenant Kathleen Sherry, classes of 1960 and 1985 respectively.
Warrant Officer Mong was a pilot Killed in Action in 1968 near Phuoc Vinh in an airplane crash during a ferry mission. Lieutenant Sherry died in Kuwait and was a part of a signal battalion deployed in Operation Desert Storm and was honored online by fellow Sweet Home Alumni Gunnery Sergeant Stephen C. Lehner.
You can look at the Virtual Wall of Honor on the Alumni Association website where you'll find Sweet Home students who have served in all five branches.
We're also sharing our two interviews with Veterans for Roar and our military articles going all the way back to 2007. To see the full list, go to panthereye.news/military.

This is Obama’s war. He shall strike fear into the souls of Al-Qaeda and those that come out of their caves will wish they never did.
