In October of 2018, the Panther Eye launched a unified rating system for it’s review articles to use to quickly communicate the quality of works of art, specifically books, movies and music. Here’s the first version of the chart.
| +++ | Excellent | The best rating that can be given. Exceptionally great. |
| ++ | Worth the time | Great, but not exceptional. |
| + | Above average | Good, but not great. |
| ~ | Mediocre | Just about average. Not bad but not good. |
| – | Sub-par, below average | Bad, but not very bad. |
| — | Not worth the time | Very bad, but not exceptionally so. |
| — | Atrocious | An embarrassment to the arts. Should never have been made. |
