Elections Are Coming Up. Here’s What Juniors need to know.
Once again, it’s that time of year. Student Government Elections are approaching fast, with seats in each grade up for election. Each candidate has gone through gathering signatures from their peers and references from adults as well as setting up political campaign posters throughout the building, and most importantly, preparing and giving a speech to the students of Sweet Home.
There are eight juniors running for Senate this year, out of which only 5 will be representing their grade.
Zachary Simmons
Zachary ran for student government last year as a sophomore and is running to make Sweet Home a better place. Zach hopes to bring back the App Store, create a fairer system of punishment in the school, and continue the winter dance. Zach is running because he believes he has the leadership abilities to help his classmates, as well as other grades. Zach is campaigning on Instagram.
Caroline Thiele
Captain of the Girls Varsity Tennis team and ambassador for the Unified Bowling team, Caroline believes she could be a great leader for Sweet Home and accomplish great things for the Class of 21. She hopes to have therapy dogs put into action at Sweet Home, and plans to work avidly behind the scenes to make this possible for the school. Caroline did not provide any social media platforms that she is campaigning on.
Other Candidates
Sienna Cefalu, Samson Kassey, Brenna O’Brocta, Dominic Lewis, Abigail Udy and Danuta Kurtyko are also running, but did not comment before publishing of this article.
